It is not rare for a new common rail diesel engine’s injectors to seize within the cylinder head; not only is this problem a regular occurrence across diesel engines, it’s also expensive to fix.
Here at CR Auto Engineering, we possess a wide range of extraction tools which enable us to maintain an almost perfect success rate for injector removal. Our experience, skills and equipment combine to ensure that we are able to remove the vast majority of injectors for a very competitive rate.
Injector removal
Damaged injectors can also be removed, even in the event that their threads are damaged or broken. We can extract anything from a seized, broken or snapped injector to injectors which have been welded onto or manipulated. Whilst most injectors can be removed with the engine in situ, there are some vehicles where the only way to remove them is to remove the cylinder head.
Glow plug removal
Where petrol engines rely on spark plugs to provoke combustion, diesel engines depend on high compression which boosts the air temperature within the combustion chamber. When the diesel enters the chamber it combusts, so the engine must have a robust engine block.
If the vehicle is left for a long period of time, the engine block becomes particularly cold. This makes it more difficult for the vehicle to start as it struggles to generate and maintain the heat required for the fuel to ignite. In order to combat this problem, diesel engines are fitted with glow plugs which sit on the combustion chamber.
There will come a point when glow plugs have to be removed; if they are worn or damaged, they should be replaced. As those who try to remove them manually discover, glow plugs are notoriously stubborn. If the glow plug has snapped off, CR Auto Engineering can remove the broken glow plug. Whilst most glow plugs can be removed with the engine in situ, there are some vehicles where the only way to remove them is to remove the cylinder head.
